European private equity firm, Cinven, today announces two new appointments to its Portfolio Support team. Immo Rupf has been appointed as an Operating Partner in London and Ivan Kwok has been appointed as a Principal in Hong Kong.
Immo Rupf, Operating Partner, London
Based in London, Immo will focus on growing and improving Cinven’s portfolio companies, working in conjunction with both the Cinven sector teams and the Board of each company. He will also work closely with Cinven’s Portfolio Support team in Asia, seeking to add value to portfolio companies exploiting opportunities in that region as well as in emerging Europe.
Immo has a wealth of international operational experience and joins Cinven from Inchcape plc where he worked most recently as CEO of one of its main operating divisions. He was also a member of Inchcape’s global Executive Committee. Prior to his time at Inchcape, Immo held senior management roles with responsibility for Asia, Australia, and Latin America at Alcoa Inc. in New York and was a Partner at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he worked extensively in China, France and Germany.
Ivan Kwok, Principal, Hong Kong
Ivan joins Cinven’s Portfolio Support team in Hong Kong as a Principal, from Bain Capital, where he was a Senior Vice President of the Asia Portfolio Group. He will be responsible for working with Cinven’s portfolio companies to drive their expansion into Asia.
At Bain Capital, he was responsible for the successful delivery of strong growth performance and margin improvement of two portfolio companies, and the liquidity events that have realised superior investment returns. Prior to joining Bain Capital in 2007, he worked for the Boston Consulting Group in its China, Singapore and Japan offices for ten years.
Hugh Langmuir, Cinven’s Managing Partner, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Immo and Ivan to Cinven. These two high calibre appointments further strengthen Cinven’s Portfolio Support team. Immo’s extensive global experience will be of immense value, both to our portfolio companies and to our sector teams as they evaluate opportunities for the portfolio outside our core European markets.
“Ivan’s appointment also greatly enhances the depth of experience of our Portfolio Support team in Asia, which many of our portfolio companies are already benefitting from, and we very much look forward to working with him.”
